Share the love of reading from park bench to park bench

What is Grassroots Readers?

Grassroots readers is a neighborhood-based project for people who enjoy reading in parks and want an easy way to briefly connect over their shared love of reading. The first neighborhood project is in Washington, D.C.

Local chapter: DC Grassroots Readers

  • DC Grassroots Readers is a neighborhood project in Malcolm X/ Meridian Hill Park for people who enjoy reading on the benches and grass throughout the park

  • The central part of the project is the DC Grassroots Readers bookmark which if you have in view as you are reading, will serve as a signal to let other park readers know that you are open to a brief chat about the book you are reading or to share book recommendations

  • It’s as simple as that - a fun, free, and easy way to briefly connect over your shared love of reading
